The Thawing

This piece is one of my very first weavings — a beginning, full of hesitation and discovery.
The technique is far from perfect, but perhaps that’s part of its charm. The uneven textures, the rough transitions between light and shadow, the way the yarns twist and wander — all these small imperfections seem to breathe life into it.

When I look at it now, I can still feel the moment it was born — that in-between time when winter loosens its grip and the first signs of spring begin to whisper. The pale tones of white and grey, the soft browns, and the darker threads that run across the surface remind me of melting snow, of the ground slowly reappearing beneath it, of branches stretching again toward light.

It’s not just a landscape outside; it’s also a landscape within — a quiet thawing of the heart, a slow reawakening.
Even with its simplicity, this weaving holds for me that early joy of creating something that carries both nature’s rhythm and my own first artistic pulse.
